In response to xenophobic assaults in Hoyerswerda, Karin Wieckhorst tried to find her personal way of raising awareness of this issue among the public. The analysis of social issues in her environment is reflected in her artistic work in various ways. In 1992 she managed to capture impressive portraits of the people who had arrived at the homes for asylum seekers in Leipzig-Heiterblick, Lippendorf and Eilenburg on camera, with the support of the Leipzig Regional Council. |
