The photographic collection includes all photographic techniques from Daguerreotopia to electronic image techniques. In addition, photography such as picture postcards are collected and made available in the photo library. The collection includes, for example
- The estate of the first European professional photographer Bertha Wehnert-Beckmann: daguerreotypes, glass negatives and original paper prints
- Photographs on the architectural history of the early 20th century, including those by Hermann Walter, Hermann Vogel and Paul Faulstich
- Postcards from all areas of the city's history
- Reproductions from the collection of the former Georgi Dimitroff Museum on the history of the Reichstag fire and the communist resistance, 1933-1945
- Photographs from the collection of the Museum for the History of the Leipzig Labour Movement
- Collection on the popular uprising on 17 June 1953 in Leipzig
Use and research
Use of the photo library is free of charge. Fees for services and public usage rights for images are based on the applicable fee schedule.
