And I kiss you with all my thoughts! Elsa Asenijeff and Max Klinger in letters and pictures

Studio exhibition 10th June 20th September
Böttchergäßchen Building, Böttchergäßchen 3, 04109 Leipzig

The Klinger Year 2020 commemorates the 100th anniversary of the death of the great Leipzig artist. The Museum of City History uses this occasion to place the spotlight on Elsa Asenijeff, a famous author and Klinger’s partner over many years.

The exhibition focuses on the correspondence between the two; the museum owns more than 1300 letters which they wrote to each other between 1898 and 1915.

The letters, along with documents, paintings and drawings, provide insights into Asenijeff’s literary work within the sphere of the avant-garde literary scene in Leipzig, as well as the artistically fruitful cooperation between the two and, last but not least, their great love story which ended tragically.
