Leipzig has been a centre of supra-regional trade for more than 850 years. This trade fair site boasts an eventful yet enduringly successful history. The trade fair as an institution stands for innovation and communication, for dynamic developments - and permanence and continuity. It has shaped Leipzig as a city and helps to promote its industries, transport infrastructure and culture to this day.
This exhibition illustrates the particularities of one of the market places with the richest traditions in central Europe, and the historic turning points of its developments - not to mention its innovative potential.
The exhibition relies on giving visual impressions to the visitors strolling through the exhibition: still or moving images, individual impressive items or presentations. With its fascinating pictures and authentic sound, the video installation of Leipziger Messe GmbH takes visitors on a journey through time relating to trade fair activities.
