Early Photographs from the Scheufler Collection

August 16 - October 15, 2017
Studio exhibition
Haus Böttchergäßchen, Böttchergäßchen 3, 04109 Leipzig

In cooperation with the expert and collector of Bohemian photography Pavel Scheufler and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Dresden, the Stadtgeschichtliche Museum Leipzig shows a previously little-noticed part of European history of photography.

The exhibition presents important stages of the development of Bohemian and Saxon photography focusing on three Bohemian photographers and their photographic journeys: The outstanding landscape photographer František Fridrich (1829–1892), the pioneer of photo reportage Rudolf Bruner-Dvořák (1864–1921) and the trendsetting producer and publisher of coloured stereo photographs František Krátký (1851–1924).
