The exhibition displays the fascinating building history of Leipzig during the three decades after the end of the Second World War and until the first stone was laid for Leipzig-Grünau in 1976.
Until the end of the 1950s, the city planning clung to the traditional ground-plan of the city which led to the rebuilding of many heavily damaged buildings.

This strategy was contrasted by the demolishing of many buildings worthy of preservation.
At the transition to industrial building, the language of design changed and new materials were used.
The topicality of the subject is due not least to the continuing threat to the buildings from this era.
