For the 2019 Jewish Week, the Museum of City History will bring back a special and forgotten family history spanning several generations to the present of the city.

Funny anecdotes and memories as well as moments of sadness and, at times, tragic fates are often closely connected in family stories. All these elements are also found in the stories of the lives of the Chamizer family members. This Jewish family from Leipzig was not only characterised by their special biographies but also by the artistic talent of the family members.

The exhibition shows hitherto inaccessible pieces of art and photographs owned by the family and tells the eventful stories from the lives of the Chamizer family between Leipzig and Israel.
